Elemental Duplication: A Unique Residential House Design by Sheng-Hao Sun

Exploring the Possibility of Space Elements and Relations

Designer Sheng-Hao Sun has created a truly unique residential house design called Elemental Duplication. This innovative project aims to explore the possibility of space elements and relations by deconstructing and reconstructing the embedded space elements through different base environments on each of its four floors. The design enhances the mobility of light, air, and people's activities through the surround design of travel lines.

The Elemental Duplication design stands out with its visual richness based on the stacking concept. Each floor has its own unique design, creating a sense of space hierarchy based on the floating concept. The open design of circulation links the interior and exterior spaces seamlessly, providing a harmonious living experience.

The first floor of the house features oak, tawny glass, titanium-plating metal plate, and piano varnish materials. The second floor showcases oak and white travertine, while the third floor incorporates black mirror, wallpaper, piano varnish, titanium-plating metal plate, oak, and gray tile. The fourth floor combines oak, black iron, and gray mirror. These carefully chosen materials contribute to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the design.

With specifications of 105 sqm for the first floor, 115 sqm for the second floor, 125 sqm for the third floor, and 80 sqm for the fourth floor, the Elemental Duplication design offers a spacious and comfortable living space.

The design of Elemental Duplication is not only visually stunning but also functional. The house is designed to enhance the interaction between the occupants and the space. The circulation design plan of the third floor connects the master room, the reading area, the bathroom, and the resting balcony, creating a seamless flow throughout the house.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was the distance between the designer and the householder. With the householder working in mainland China and the house located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, effective communication was crucial. Through video conferences and meticulous attention to detail, the designer was able to overcome this challenge and create a design that met the householder's vision.

The Elemental Duplication design was realized between February 2016 and June 2016 in Taipei, Taiwan. The project received the Bronze A' Design Award in 2017 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life.

Elemental Duplication is a testament to Sheng-Hao Sun's innovative approach to residential house design. By pushing the boundaries of space elements and relations, this design offers a unique and captivating living experience.
